A chess app for play, training and community

MateMate is a native Android chess application developed in Kotlin as a second-year DAM final project. It combines chess gameplay and training with a community-oriented platform.

The app uses Stockfish for AI-powered play and analysis, Lichess APIs for chess data and daily puzzles, Firebase for authentication and cloud data, and Room for local persistence.

Architecture and features

MateMate follows a Single Activity Architecture with Jetpack Navigation. It supports free play, openings, daily puzzles and local two-player games, alongside an openings library, chess news, personal notes and social features.

The interface includes internationalization and responsive layouts for phones and tablets.
